    Question Firewall Restricts Many Apps

I've been having trouble with my BB and a few apps. I prefer the firewall on so that my BB is protected from unwanted connections, but the following programs can't run because of the following error:

    -bing
    -mobipocket reader
    -gpsed

error: "The application x has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy"

Personally i think its bs and its upsetting me.

Any remedy or settings i can change to fix this issue? Or does IT policy have last say?

The only times I have seen that error is 1 if the firewall is turned on, which in your case it is therefore not allowing it to communicate properly because of the security giving you the error. and 2, if an IT policy is set. I do not know of a workaround for these except turning off the firewall. Have you checked the permission for the programs to make sure they are set to ALLOW in both instances?

Thats a good question. I have noticed more people lately that are not on BES with IT policies "showing up". I think the comment about IT policy might not have to do with BES, but with the firewall. Check the firewall settings and play around with the settings. See if you get the error when setting EVERYTHING to allow. Then change the security to how you want and see if it errors out.

I have this problem as well with certain applications. Even after I disabled my firewall, I still get the "inside/outside firewall" error messages.

Odd that you get the error even when its off. If you have 4.5, have you tried a wipe?

You would have to do it the way I show here:
