    Re: Email Reconciliation with Gmail

Well folks, our issue has officially been resolved....

GMAIL has announced IMAP4 access, which is being deployed over the next few days. <-- Q.E.D. (thats quod erat demonstrandum for those unfamiliar... "and thus it is proven")

With IMAP4 access enabled in gmail settings, any activity made to the gmail account, whether it be via Outlook, BlackBerry, gmail website, etc., reconciliation/synch is instant.

Here are directions for configuring your Berry with gmail imap access:
    1. Enable IMAP in your Gmail account settings.
    2. Select the 'PersonalEMailSetUp' icon.
    3. Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') but leave the password field blank.
    4. Select 'Next.'
    5. Select 'I will provide the settings to add this email account' and then 'Next.'
    6. Select 'Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP)' and then 'Next.'
    7. Select 'I will provide the settings to add this email account' and then 'Next.'
    8. Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') as the user name and your password.
    9. Enter 'imap.gmail.com' as the email server and select 'Next.'
    10. Select 'OK.'
    11. Below your newly added email address, select 'Edit.'
    12. Select 'Advanced Settings' at the bottom.
    13. Make sure that the port is set to '993' and 'Use SSL' is set to 'Yes.'
    14. Select 'Save.'

Doesn't seem to give me the option. When I go into Settings on my Gmail page/account, It only lists POP, IMAP isn't shown anywhere. So what's the deal with that? Thanks.

The IMAP settings haven't gotten around to everyone yet. They say they are working as fast as they can to get it to all the users.

OK, thanks. I was figuring that was the case. Anyways, can't wait till it does come my way. I have 2 gmail accounts that are pushed to my BB presently. This will make them much more efficient.

you have IMAP enabled? not all gmail accounts have it as a feature yet. any change you make on the bb should be reflected... once enabled on gmail, the email on your bb **isnt really** on your bb... so the change should be very quick.

    Re: Email Reconciliation with Gmail

One of my 2 Gmail accounts that I have pushed to my BB is now capable of POP3 or IMAP. Anyways, I tried to get IMAP to work last night but had some difficulties. I ended up deleting both Gmail accounts off my device via BIS and then readded them. I have them both set back up as POP3.

I'm getting my mail via both of the Gmail accounts, however now when I read it or delete it, or whatever, the BB tells me next to the name of the account "(1)" as if I still have a message that's new/unread. That's not the case, I go into that account on the BB and there's no new message listed.

    What's up with that? Thanks.
