Damn!! No matter I how hard I try to protect my 8700, the inevitable happened today. Out of the blue my BB (still intact inside my seidio holster) dropped and rolled a few steps down a concrete stair.

My heart sank as I watched helplessly it tumbling down like Jack & Jill. Luckily upon further inspection, not even a scratch on my BB, thanks in part of the holster. If it would have been other phones it would have a cracked casing already.

    Re: Dropped Blackberry

My 8700g fell out of the holster and into a swimming pool as I was bending down to pick up my child. I immediately took the battery out and dried it out the best I could. Now, when I put the battery in, it vibrates constantly and occasionally the screen comes on showing the hour glass icon with the red light blinking.

I tried to take the case apart to dry more thoroughly but after removing the 3 visible silver screws on the back with a small star screwdriver, the case still will not come apart.

    Questions:
    1. Can you point me to a guide to assist in my efforts to take the case apart?
    2. Any suggestions for repair?
    3. What are the least expensive options to buy another if I cannot fix it?

    Thanks for your help.

Is the poll for how many times we dropped our BB? Or how many times we dropped it today? LOL

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I'm a Cingular rep. I actually have thrown my 8700c accross my store a dozen or so times. I use this as a demonstration when people ask me what our toughest phone is. People freak out. It gets em everytime. These things are built to last. Although, I can't take credit for the demo idea. I had to go to a BlackBerry clinic and the rep threw his against the wall. That's when I knew I had a new favorite phone.

It would be like dropping a newborn. You just don't do that! You need to take care of your BB like it was your Baby!

I will be reporting all of you child abusers to the BB authorities.

I dropped mine as I was walking out of the movie theater. Trying to text and walk down those narrow stairways is really difficult. It slipped right out of my hand and hit the rubberized edge of the stairs. I still managed to chip off the silver paint at the top.

    Re: Dropped Blackberry

I didn't actually drop mine. I fell asleep with it on my stomach the 3rd night I had it and I guess when it slid to the floor it hit my bed frame. I have a small scratch in the top left corner of my screen. But I don't mind it too much. I think I would have a heart attack if I dropped mine the way some of you have.

I dropped my first BB a 7520 many times, even left it in the rain once. I never had a problem with that tough guy. I dropped my 1st 8700 and cracked the screen. I haven't dropped this new 8700 yet.

    Re: Dropped Blackberry

I actually dropped it a few times. I keep it in a Prima (Prima Cases) open face case which kept it safe. Not a scratch or ding on my 8700.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ehh, I've dropped mine a few times. I've done the fall asleep while stacking thing and dropping it on my hard wood floors. I've also had it in my lap a time or two and watched it fly through the air when I get out. Once it actually bounced off the car next to me and slid back under my truck. I froze on that one and I didn't want to look at the damage. My girl told me to grow up and got it for me. It was okay. When she turned around, I kissed it and and whispered that I was sorry.
