Ive purchased, unlocked, gotten free, and created themes. Perhaps if waldog jumped into the theme making game, then it would be understood why some people charge for their time and effort. Im not good enough to charge yet

I have free themes and paid for themes - depends on my mood that day..

I have no problem paying for themes. If there is one I really want, why shouldn't I pay for it? Someone put their time and effort into making making it. they deserve to paid for their time.

I make custom beaded jewlery. I love to give my stuff away, but sometimes I need to sell a piece to pay for my time and energy.

Thanks to all the Theme Designers!

Re: Did you pay for your theme?

I've used a few free themes here and there. Mostly just keep the same one, one of the unlocked vendor themes.

If I see one I really like, I'll pay $5 for it, especially if its someone from the Stacks that put time and effort into it and did a good job. I have no problem paying someone for their hard work.

A major corporation (i.e. my carrier) just trying to squeeze one more buck out of me for a stupid ringtone, well, thats another discussion all together.

I am using the zen theme that came on the pearl. I change up the wallpaper and my colorpearl to match sometimes. I might buy a theme when I find just the right one. Free for now.

One reason, is to get exactly what you want: layout, background, font, icons.

If you can do your own themes, all the better; but if you can't, and want something more to your liking, you can either make do with an existing theme (free or pay) or get a custom one.

I did pay for the theme below, called Luster.

VERY sweet theme, the font used in menus is beautiful, and the theme is simple but elegant.

For me, it was worth the few bucks......

Re: Did you pay for your theme?

By the way, my thoughts on paying for a theme is different them most others on this board.

    Here's my thoughts....

I'll take the wife, kids and in-laws out for a birthday or holiday celebration to, say, Sizzler's every once in a while. After the meal, I'll leave, what? $3-4 bucks as a tip! (Hey, I know, but I"m just generous that way... it's a curse).

Well, if I'll drop $3, $4 bucks on a waitress for an hours worth of her work, if there's a theme I REALLY like, what's the big deal paying the developer/artist $3 bucks for his/her theme?

I drop more then that on a soda when I go to the movies...

Again, it has to be a theme I really feel is unique, but I really enjoy nice themes, and for the nominal charge most ask, if they ask at all, what the heck? (and again, like I mentioned, I'm just a generous kind of a guy..... it's my burden in life)
