As per Smart Communications in Philippines... (BLACKBERRY INDIVIDUAL.xls (21k))

    Nokia 9300 - US$510 Estimate
    Nokia 9500 - US$655 Estimate
    Sony Ericsson P910i - US$415 Estimate
    BB7100g - US$215 Estimate
    BB7290 - US$265 Estimate
    BB6720 - Free!*

    Smart only offers 2-Year Contracts.
None of their plans offer unlimited data! I have sent an inquiry to be more specific on their pricing plans. From what I see, a Smart subscriber gets charged to communicate with a Non-Smart network.
*Their current promotion is the BB6720... Free with a 2-Year Contract.

I plan to purchase one of these devices for my uncle, whom is 65 years old and knows nothing about using a computer nor E-Mail. The plan would be for my unble in Philippines to E-Mail his brother (my dad) in Seattle, WA USA.

Which of these devices should I get for my uncle? Or should I get a Non-BlackBerry device?

Yes GLOBE offers BIS Service. Its P450.00 a month. There is no store that fixes and installs applications. Even GLOBE and SMART send their units to CANADA for repairs. Regarding units Im using an BB 8800 if you are interested please feel free to get intouch with me.

Dash: Is 8700c supported by our local carriers?

I bought my handheld 8700c from a friend who returned home here..
Lots of unlock mobile company in the web that offered cheaper prices by via imei.
But is it supported by our local carriers, especially my BB8700c?
