Well i had my blackberry for about 2 weeks, i got pearl with rogers...... nothing to special, just good call quality and nice to read text files with eoffice while on the bus or waiting in for appointment to the dentist. Its pretty much what most other phones can do just nicer screen. Well i dont have a data plan, so im not really using it to full capacity. Does this mean the onlly way to make it a crack berry is to get a data plan, and some new apps? Any sugestion :P

Getting a data plan will definitely open up more of the BB world to you. Blackberry Maps, Google Maps, Berry411, etc. etc. etc.

It will give you a lot more useful tools to use.

Crackberry, to me its just saying a day to day tool you just can't manage to function without. Or you just can't put the darn thing down. A lot of us have our lifes infused into our bbs, several email accounts, work info, passwords, instant messg, calenders etc!! The list goes on! Fair to say I end up glancing @ my bb every 5-10 min period!! A bb can be a very addicting experience (once the data plan is included, and you have a few apps in place) that's why we usually refer to it as a crackberry ie THE CRACK!!

I think maybe with you missing the data plan, your missing out on all the rant rave you've heard about BBs! Don't get me wrong still a great phone, but the experiance isn't quite the same without a data plan.

I really don't see the use of a BB without a data plan. Pointless.

The crack is definately the connectedness you get with a data plan... I call it info-nography, like, pornography, but for information. You get your emails instantly, you get your weather instantly. Curious about the news? Just check it!

Its like letting a drug addict loose in a pain killer warehouse. Its everywhere. They don't have to hoard it or fight over it, they just clutch the bottles in their hands, and cradle them in their arms. So content, yet absolutely unwilling to set the bottles down, even to go to the bathroom...

Information addiction is real, and blackberries don't help! You are all enablers!

Ooo, time to check my email for the 10th time this hour....

    peace,
    sam

That's why they say YMMV. It's well-suited even without a data plan for some.

I personally don't see the point in the use of a BB without BES. :P

So True! Especially bad for those of us who are already tech people. As a friend of mine would say.... NerdVana!

I'm certain there are other devices that may serve you better if you don't have a data plan. BB's are data machines.
