Could it actually be worth upgrading my beloved 7130c?

Hoping those who have upgraded from cingular's 7130c to the newest att 8800 (?) can speak on whether theyre satisfied.

I have NEVER had a single glitch on my 7130c,it has supported as much new 3rd party software as it will support.

And I still believe this model is the ideal size for a man's hand and pocket..overall the best looking of all the BB models.

Time to upgrade? This phone is as dependable like family in some ways so..

If you like the form factor of the 7130...the it's not worth the upgrade..maybe a pearl?

I have used a number of SureType devices. They fit perfectly wherever I put them. However, I am waiting for the day that T-Mo gets the 8800. I love the size and fit of the device, but having had 5 in 2 years, I'm looking to go back to a full keyboard BB.

However, just be comfortable with whatever you want to get. Try out the Pearl and the 8800 to see what you feel most comfortable with. I may be pleasantly surprised when, and if, I get to play with the 8800. I say this because I had 2 7730's before I jumped ship to SureType. Let's just say I was hating full keyboard BB's for about 2 years LOL

Let us know what you decide as this will help me decide whenever I am eligible for another hardware upgrade in 2009.

The pearl seems like a better upgrade for you. Your form factor won't change at least.

Go hold an 8800 in your hand, and you may as well grab a Pearl if they have one, but don't let it fall up your sleeve.

I find the 8800 to sit extremely well in the hand, and it's thinner than your 7130c, so it fits in a pocket nicely. It's also far easier to remove from a pocket than the Pearl because it's slightly wider (about 1/2 inch) and won't tip over and become lost in the depths of your pockets.

Oh, and best of all, no SureType.
It doesn't record video. Get over it.

Keyboard is definitely a personal preference. Go with what you like.
