    Can't setup BIS email

For some reason I can't setup my BIS email correctly. I had a yahoo email account setup and working fine through BIS. I created a new ymail account and deleted my yahoo account from my blackberry. It was then I noticed something weird going on. Deleting the account from my blackberry did not delete the account from my AT&T BIS login, it was still showing up there, so I deleted it there also. Now when I setup my ymail on AT&t BIS setup it says it completed succesfully but it will not show up on my phone. Likewise, when I setup the email on my blackberry it gives me a successful setup notification and it works, but it doesn't appear when I login to my AT&t BIS account. I've tried the standard battery pull trick after each change, but that's not doing anything. What is going here?

As a side note, I'm on a BES, which should have nothing to do with it as I've had both BES and BIS working simultaneously before.

Mike, have you manually resent your service books to your BB? Another thing that may or may not work is to erase your service books from your bb using your desktop manager and then resending yourself your service books from the AT&T BIS site.

No, didn't think of that. I have heard of that before, but being a new blackberry user I've never had to do that to correct problems with my blackberry.. I'll give it a shot and see if that works. Thanks!

It doesn't appear to be working, my BIS email account still isn't showing up on my blackberry. I deleted the service books using my Desktop manager and resent the service books from AT&T BIS account, and did a battery pull. No go.

    Mike,

Lets try this...on your device, go to OPTIONS - Advanced-Service Books

Now, see if you find any service books there for your email accounts. If so, delete all of the service books for any email account (there will be 2 for each, CICAL and CMIME). Then reboot your device.

Now log on to your BIS page and from there ,resend the service books and see if the new accounts come up.

I followed those steps and it's still not working, but now my BES email is not coming through either. I just sent an email to my BES email address to verify, it's been a couple of minutes and still hasn't come through to my blackberry.

Ok, so I plugged my blackberry back into the computer and opened desktop manager which caused it to re-activate my BES mail and now that's at least working again. But my BIS email account is still not showing up on my phone, even after resending the service books from ATT BIS account.

    Just to verify....

    1. Do you get the successful activation email?
    2. After resending service books are the account folders present?

When I setup the account on my blackberry, I do get the successful activation email, and the email works, but the account never shows up in my ATT account login (so I can login and change my signature, etc). Likewise when I create the account on the ATT site, it says that is was successfully setup but the email account never appears on my phone.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "account folders", but if you're talking about a ymail email folder, then no (and again, this is when I setup the account through ATT website). I never get an email folder icon on my blackberry. It's like the ATT BIS account is not communicating at all with my blackberry, what I do on one does not change the other.

This isn't huge, because like I said, if I set up the email on my blackberry the account works. But I sure would like to be able to change my signature and maybe add some filters, etc.

Hmmm....interesting. About all I can think of to suggest at this point is to verify that the PIN on your BIS page is correct. Otherwise it may be an issue that you need AT&T or RIM to fix if your device is not properly associating with the BIS page

Gary, you're a genious man... that was it! For some reason the PIN on the ATT site was different than my blackberry. I did the change device option and entered the proper pin and imei and seconds later my ymail account popped up on my blackberry. I don't know how that could have gotten changed to the wrong PIN, nonetheless, it seems to be corrected now. Thanks a lot!

Another after thought... I initially setup my BIS email on ATT website and it setup correctly. I tried to change my signature line about a week ago and it didn't reflect the changes on my blackberry, I thought it must just be some sort of bug with the ATT BIS account page. Now every change I make on the ATT site also changes it on my blackberry, so this must have been the issue all along. So it must have happened some very shortly after I setup my first email account. Anyway, it's awesome to have it functioning 100% like it should be. Thanks again, you actually fixed two problems!
