    Call Screening for Free

    Advertisement

    1. Create a profile called "DND". Configure this profile to have no sounds at all (Silent). Under the 'Phone' section in the profile - scroll down to the option 'Do Not Disturb'. Set it to YES.
    2. Use which ever profile you normally use.
    3. Create and exception in your profiles using the "DND" profile. Assign the callers you don't want to hear from real-time to this exception.

    Now when they call you, it rolls them directly to voicemail. Your phone will not even alert you to the incoming call.

    This works great for those that are in your phone book or that you can add to your phonebook but it doesn't work for those pesky unlisted and unknown callers or those 800 numbers that change everytime. That is where the software add-on (such as black and white list) comes in.

    Not a bad idea overall though. Definitely worth-while for screening through callers in your list already.

    but they still can leave a message..can"t they? Then your voicemail will send an alert > I would like a way to totally avoid them. Right now I am using youmail its free but only problem I have with it is that if a tmobile user calls me they can't leave a message. so there are ups and downs..

    Exactly. So a buddy of mine calls me once a day and really has nothing to say - so I send him right to voicemail - that way my boss doesn't give me the evil eye when my phone goes off during a conference call. ;-)

    You mail lets tmobile callers leave messages for us. Both my wife and I use it. I am on 4.5.0.81 and this doesn't go right to voicemail instead the phone shows the callers info, no sound, no vibrate then eventually it goes to voicemail. Also if I am using a headset that will still notify me.

    I wish there was a way to set this for unknown numbers as well without buying a 3rd party product. I am not against buying a product but $50 for antair seems too steep.

    If telephone number = NULL;
    THEN
    {Profile=DND;
    }
    ELSE
    {Profile=Current;
    }
    END IF;

    This could be done...?
