Seems like my 8310 Curve is better built than my old 8100 Pearl was. Maybe it was just my perception.

Re: Build Quality: Which is better? Curve or Pearl?

I never had any MAJOR physical issues with my Pearls (dust under screen, squeaky parts, chrome falling off the phone, etc) but it was the insides that got me frustrated (OS crashes, random shutdowns). Never owned a Curve either so I can't compare the 2 but I will say the Pearl.

Only minor physical defect with my Pearl is a small scratch on the screen but I can live with it until I upgrade next year.

I didn't have problems with the OS until I got to the Pearl. Maybe I should have stayed with the 7105t LOL

I can't compare either since I have only had the 8130, but I can tell you I am a carpenter and very rough on mine. I also am in a dusty environment all the time so I actually am blowing dust off of it before I use it on a regular basis. So far so good. No trackball problems yet and no dust under the screen yet. It hit the pavement for the first time yesterday getting out of my truck and with only the silicone skin and BSE for protection (hurry up otterbox!) it was no worse for wear.

I am actually very impressed! I thought I might be making a bad choice when I got this instead of a more rugged phone. I expect the curve is good too though.

Both are built with quality. It is just a matter taste and perception. But i prefer Curve

I never like these questions pitting one thing against the other.. This post sounds like its on the verge of being condescending to Pearl owners in my opinioin. One thing I liked about this board was the excitement of someone owning ANY BlackBery. Both have plusses and minuses. There really is no better or worse. We all chose them for one reason or another. I chose the Pearl and really had no inclination for a Curve. Im absolutely positive the Curve is everythihg a Curve owner could want, but I am perfectly happy with my Pearl. Iit's a beauty and I am so proud to pull him out and show him off.

I've only had two issues with the pearl, which couldve been avoided. First one the trackball stopped scrolling in one direction. My fault though I couldve done a better job cleaning it and I couldve probably easily have solved this by cleaning the trackball assembly. The second one the latch on the battery door fell off. I might of put too much pressure on it, causing that to happen. In all I think the pearl is very well built, sure there are some things that could use some work but overall it is solid.

I've never used a curve for more than a few hours so I can't comment on it.

I have never owned a pearl, but I think my old 7100i was better built. I'ts the track wheel I like. The trackball on my curve seems very flismy. Not something I would expect from a 500 Dollar product.
