After setting my handheld to "discoverable" while trying to sync with my Razor to get the pictures off it, my Curve asks for some sort of device I.D. number. What is that!

Is it asking for a "device I.D. number" or is it asking for a pre-shared key.
Both devices have to have the same passkey entered in during pairing as a security feature. (kinda like a secret handshake)

That default is for pairing to a headset, when pairing to another phone you can decide what code to enter. ( as long as it's the same on both phones)
