Question: Do I have to purchase and download an "unlocking program"? Where? Thanks

I was able to remove the IT Policy, but I don't have the option to disable my firewall. Any ideas on how to disable my firewall?
    Thank you.

    Doesn't exist.
You'll need to call your Service Provider to SIM unlock the BB.

There's no unlocking app. You need to get the code from your BB's carrier or a third party service. This is the case with all GSM BB's.

    newbie question - first post
    hiya!

i'm an old blue customer, purchased a cingular pearl on ebay, the guy i purchased it from said he used an ATT sim with it. but i get "invalid sim" when i try.
I called 611 had to specifically ask for her to give me the code, she told me she'd submit my application, i'd receive a reply by 7/26 and that I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO USE DATA SERVICES AFTER I UNLOCK IT - JUST SEND AND RECEIVE CALLS - is this just a scare tactic? or will i really not be able to use data?

i yelled that part for dramatic effect because i think it's ridiculous!

You shouldn't need to unlock your phone, maybe you have an older SIM card that is not compatible. I would call tech support back and see what they can do for you other than getting you an unlock code.

    Sha,

You're an ATT customer using an ATT Pearl on ATT? You shouldn't need to unlock it like Naylor said. Unless you're trying to use it with Tmobile. I agree with Naylor, stop into an ATT store and get a new SIM. They'll give you one free.

If you were wanting to use it with a different carrier... i've done this and my data worked just fine.

    Good Luck,

Re: Blackberry unlock and IT Policy Help

This may sound like a paranoid question but how do we know what this IT Policy contains before we put it on our devices? Would it be possible for it to have something malicious??? Say like it enables someone to see my password keeper or something like that? Just what can an IT Policy control on my device?

    Thanks for any answers.
