    Blackberry shutting down on me

Ever since I downloaded the new OS my phone keeps turing off for no apparent reason. Anyone know why and how to fix it? I didn't have any error messages when I put the new OS on. I did wipe out my entire phone before I put the new OS on my phone and I have the most updated verson of the DM.

    scadroes,

Do you have a media card in your device, and if so, did you do the upgrade with the card in the device?

Okay, have you pulled the battery at all since upgrading?

Hm. You might have to reinstall the OS.

Go to Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs (Programs and Features on Vista). Look for BlackBerry Device Software and post what it says. I want to make sure you got the right OS for your device.

If you downloaded that os from the web it will not work. Those are official releases from from rim but the do not work with your carrier.the only os you should download is from your wireless company.

You are mistaken, bighouse. As long as the OS is for a specific device, it does not matter what carrier it comes from.

So there is nothing that says BlackBerry Device Software 4.5 on your computer?

If you go to Options>About on your device, what does it say on the third line down?

Okay, do you have some time now to try a couple of things? I'm going to have you do a clean uninstall of DM, then have you download and install DM 4.6 from here.

Next, I'd like you to download and install this OS on your PC, then onto your device (after deleting the vendor.xml file from your PC).

After you've downloaded and installed the DM and OS onto your PC, please reboot before attempting the OS upgrade.

Trying it now but got stuck on set 4 here. dont see user name or application data I have XP

Task 4 - Delete the Research In Motion folders from your hard drive

    For Windows 2000 or XP

    1. Open Windows Explorer.
    2. Delete the Research In Motion folder in C:\Program Files\
Note: This key may not be present if you are removing BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.0.
    3. Delete the Research In Motion folder in C:\Program Files\Common Files (if present).
    4. Delete the Research In Motion folder in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\
    5. If you were running BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.0 Service Pack 1, delete the BlackBerry Desktop folder in C:\Documents and Settings\<user names>\Application Data\.
