How about using our fringerprint as abiometric scanner to lock our blackberry. Basically when we want to unlock our BB we just put our thumb print on the screen (which of course has a sensor). I think this would be a great security feature or is just me?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~great idea as I have pwd disabled as I want fast unlock and use but fear even with bes lock/wipe functionality I do not want kids or colleagues playing with my unattended BB

I agree with a fingerprint reader. Something like the one on winmob devices. Though I am sure the bb will get bigger in size.

That's ok they can put it into a completely new form factor like the 7700 series.

    I can dream.

wow glad to know that i'm not the only one who thinks this is a good idea. I was also thinking of an eye scanner with the BB camera although camera phones are not exactly the ideal when it comes to security

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~i don't think BB designers are thinking 007 but I sure would love a phone with such security capabilities.

well actually I believe the cIA, FBI and other governmental security organizations rely heavily on the BB and so maybe it would be a plus for them. My question is if BB decided to pick up on this concept to I get a cut of the profits, lol jk. I wouldn't mind having free BB's for life though

I love the fingerprint scan idea too, questions is? where to put it?

possibly on the back of the phone?

There is no room on the front and i don't like fingerprints on my screen either.

This sounds pretty fun. In regards to government BBs, I think they all do not have a camera so that does away with the retinal scan. I'm guessing fingerprint scans would have to use some type of camera or lense as well.

You could maybe set something up with an RFID chip. For example, with an RFID imbedded in a ring, only when the ring is within proximity will the BB unlock. Only thing, I'm not sure of the range on the RFID chips.
I know they already have the smart card readers out for BB.
Next up a BB alcohol breath tester.

you might be on to something. you know whats funny is a while back I heard of the possibility of putting a insulin scanner in the BB (for future BB's). I'll see if I can find the article now but its been a couple months.
