    Blackberry Private Mode

I noticed my Blackberry has a profile option for Do Not Disturb ON/OFF. If I turn this option on (Do Not Disturb On) I would assume any phone calls go directly to voicemail, notifying me that I had a call but with the caller NOT having heard the phone ring. However, when I chose this option, yes on my end I do not hear my phone ring which is good-BUT the caller still hears the phone ring at least twice before it goes into voicemail? Hence, they do not get the feeling that the phone is turned OFF and they expect a call back. Is there a PRIVATE mode or AIRPLANE mode something where the caller goes right into voicemail so they know I am unvailable? But yet I can see when I recieve any calls?

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am new to Blackberry!

You could turn the radio off, but that wouldn't inform you of missed calls.

Yup, if I turn off the wireless device I am not informed of new calls. Any way around this? I don't see any other way around this...Hmm.

I'm not aware of anything, Melissa.

    Maybe someone else is.

I have had the phone ring twice before even when the persons doesnt have service. in fact just as we speak I turned by bb raido off and called it from my desk phone and it rang three times before going to my answering machine. So I think that the Do Not Disturb funtions is working like it should. I could be a bunch of different reasons why it rings before it goes to a answering machine

Oh really? I used to have a junky old Nextel from 1985 and it has this Private Mode that I would use all the time so when people would call, it went directly into voicemail without ringing and I would see one missed call. I guess with new technology that is not an option! Do you know if this phone has airplane mode? If it does, I believe that is the similar to Private-no?

It's an OTA download. Just go to this address in your browser:

OTA = Over The Air Install.
Which means you can download the application and install it directly on your phone.
If an application is not an OTA then you would need to hook your berry onto your PC and use Media Manager instead of Desktop Manager to port the application over to your phone .

You can always use You Mail also. I like it, works pretty good for me.

Though the phone does ring, its still nice to have.
