    Blackberry is on last string

4.5 browser is practically identical to 4.3. I have 8330, and the only things that I have noticed have got to be the main page. Still no tabs or things of such kind. Kinda sucks in my opinion. Very limited compare to iphones browser! I used one in rogers store for a little while and was absolutly austaunished with the preformance. In telus goes gsm or apple making cdma I will most likly leave for the I phone. I don't care for the security as my berry is more of a personal device. Although I like the cdma speeds, I am afraid that the storm will stick to original core os and add a few pathetic features. Common guys, the os is second oldest to palm, although it has good usability, I would love to see the core modifyed and addition of many features! I phone is evolving extreemly fast! Berry uses practicly same os for thest 6 years or so! The only things that have changed are a few minor changes through each of the update that apple pretty much releases with .x updates not the core numbers update. Bescides the next summers revision of iphone should be great! Common guys you all know how much better the os is comapre to the berries!

Now with the app sore, the third party support that gives access to numerous APIs! Berry gives so few due to security issues that the development of the good and usefull apps is practicly impossible! As mentioned numerous of times before, all of the best apps were developed by rim, all others, although creative and should be offered with the device, simply suck! Don't get me wrong viigo, opera, are great, but they could be so much better if rim gave more api access and not block the third party development. New generation of blackberries are going to be a big fail, although new desgin and a few basic features that other devices already have and offer, such as html email and faster processors! The OS 4.6 addition is horrible! It consistes of a few minor changes and a crappy looking wire frame theme, cmon guys a theme! That is officially the worst update for the core os numbers that I have ever heard of! Bescides, sony PSP have offered wire frame template secense their game system was released and looks far better. Bescides after installing the third party apps the wire icons just look out of place, and here we go! We are back to dimension theme!

That absolutly discusts me, in my opinion if the core os does not indergo any changes, I would see a huge shift to wm and iphones. don't give me the bs about wm stabilities! It works fine! Bescides look at the berry, suck tiny amounts of memory that are sucked up without battery pulls, hah that's stable!

Iphone is great and has far exeeded the expectations of many people, giving a massive amount of build in space that can be used for everything, including apps and media. Berry offers maximum 96, to date, all other are 64 mbs! That is tiny compare to industry leading devices that run WM, thouse offer 128 at avarage.

Iphone is evolving fast and capturing each of the markets step by step. Having a single device for sale, they are catching up to the rest of the mobile market, beating numerous and countless WM devices and few blackberries in growth.

Now for the iphone, although lacking basic features such as copy and paste, and multitasking, which I guess could be eassily writen in. As soon as multi tasking is available, so will be the copy and paste as it simply could be a small code that records and keeps running in the back keeping the copied items on the "clipboard" right after that it has all the devices beat. Another eddition that could be added with the next iphone release is the slider feature. The device could be split into two, the one gets new features and keeps the same touch key entry, which is cool as the keyboard can change to different languages. A lot of people are bilingual, even such as french, english and spanish still count. A lot others have more unique such as hindi, chinese and many more. And get the other to be a slider, still have the same entry, but offer a region based keyboard. Offer at the 49Ľ differense to original model. Simple solution not to only widen the market but lure in more people such as die hard plastick key fans, I know I am, I used the iphone, not bad, just hard to type without looking.

I know a lot of you will flame me for " why change something that works" crap? Simple. Palm works well, I don't see a lot of problems, but due to that the os is ansient. They had a great run, but are on the verge of death! If rim won't do anything, blackberry devices will vanish to die hard fans and goverment. They use it mostly for simple tasks that even 8700 can preform. At this rate, apart from the looks, they might have as well skip the whole other 8000 lineup.

Iphone and wm will simply take over and kill of the blackberries and palms! That is the sad truth! The devices are more open to development such as the ihpone, it offers practicly each api to the third partly. Wm installs on the devices from numerous companies LG, htc, moto, sumsung. I won't include nokia as it is not really a huge part of NA market so I will skip them, although the os is widely supported and is really good, just not much spotlight.

So far the blackberry, although not hanging by a string, is slowly but surely moving towards that point.

9000, If not upgraded will be the last major release of the device before the breaking point!

Just my 0.02Ľ, had to let out my midnight furasteration!

See what Jobs and Jesus juice does? Makes people believe things that aren't really happening (Apple taking over the world) and say things that don't make sense (this thread).

It was very hard to read your rant, but I think you took too many slight and correctable shortcomings that RIM and other companies and made them look like certain death for those establishments.

Simple and plain...yes the iPhone is very nice, but it will not destroy RIM. Nor will it's advantages over the Blackberry suddenly make every CEO and government official drop their BBs and run crying towards the iPhone.

RIM isn't dumb. They know what they're doing. Just relax man.
    I have a BlackBerry and a WhiteApple. :)

Ok, I respect that everyone has the right to their own opinion. However I think you've been reading a lot of propaganda relating to the BlackBerry as it relates to development. As a developer/forensics/IT specialist, I think you have a lot to learn about API's and how they relate to the functionality of the programs. IMHO RIM does not unjustly limit access to its API and provides a mulittude of tools, tutorials and support.

This idea of limiting access to API's may be confused by their process of requiring certain classes to be signed before allowing use on a physical BB. This is for security reasons and makes the BB a more secure platform as well as a detterent for those wanting to develop programs for malicious use. The CLDC/MIDP API can be accessed directly without going through mandatory code signing. The only thing that needs to be signed is native BB classes as well as Certicom technology.

Now is it hard to acquire the keys to sign the software, no. Is it expensive, no. Does it increase the security and compliance of the BB platform, yes!

My two cents on the dev side of things.

The BB OS? Why fix something that isn't broken? Works fine for me. I don't need fancy animations to use my phone, and my BB has everything I need in a phone. BTW in this case do iphones have spell check like BB's do?

One thing Gene - Iphone will never "kill" BB or Palm why? because its EXCLUSIVE to Att.. not everyone wants their service. If they were not exclusive that arguement might have some (a very small amount) of validity. but it wont ever happen.

I agree. The Mac Books do look sweet. I have played with them at the Apple Store in Atlanta. Now, about the iPhone. I had one for a year. I hated it. I am so glad that I got my BB Curve. I think IMHO that the BB is a much better product.

I'm a teenager, and the iphone is cool and everything but I hate apple for these reasons:

    1. They charge you for everything.

    2. You have to own all of their stuff in order for their product to work.

Reason why I don't want an iphone:

    1. Can't customize themes or make anything for that matter

2.As posted above, I don't want all of apples software taking over my computer and taking up all my memory.

    3. Its from apple

    4. I can't type on all touchscreen items, it would need a keyboard along with it.

    5. Are there any free software for it that I would use? Nope, can you use vlingo on it?

    6. BB has a way better email system.

These are my reasons. This is why the BB Thunder that's coming out will be perfect for me! If I spelled something wrong, don't kill me, I'm a teenager.

It was in the stacks here that 4.3 and 4.5 are the exact same. 4.3 morphed into 4.5 but with a few updates.

AZSTAR has taken the words right out of my mouth - unsanitary, but succinct.

Frankly,I would prefer the old fashioned Bell crank phone but I lean to the left when I clip it on my belt and it is unsettling because I am a Conservative.

In the greater scheme of things it is difficult to take Genekam seriously. He should just get over it.
