Well, I have a 8830 and I really don't know if they have the same features. Mine if I go into the sms/ email and hit menu> view folder> incoming or out going sms. Worth a try....

Ya. Pc. We always learn the hard way by loosing critical data first ... Then learning to do backups. Sorry. I'm pretty sure that'd be your only bet.

How old is that backup? I would backup your current data. Then load the backup from above onto your bb to see if the txt messages are there. If not -- reload the first backup back on it.

this one's just from today. i had one or two back ups but they were just from last month & the messages i'm trying to retrieve are pretty old. i still have some of them, but like i said... the other ones didn't stay for some kinda reason. grrr. i see my saved text messages in this file which i still have on my phone, but then i'm wondering if any of these codes are the deleted ones.

Keep in mind you can't read the backup themselves. The have to be loaded with the DM. Then you can read off your device.

You got to load the back-up onto your BB that's how.

but i didn't back those old messages up. that's why i wouldn't be able to load it.. i just thought there might be a way to retrieve it from way deep in the chips of the phone or something.. like an expert would do with a computer hard drive if they're trying to find old files that have been deleted.
