    Howdy Stackerz,

Hope all is well today. So, if RIM does get shutdown... what other devices would you use or recommend? Feel free to share your thoughts.

    Thank you.

    Re: Blackberry Alternative

RIM won't get shutdown; they are not going to close the company.

The worst that can happen is: They (Service Providers for BlackBerry) and You will have to reload software. RIM has openly said they have an alternative piece of software to run, but they do not wish to switch to because of the work involved with changing the software of the users and servers.

RIM has had this lawsuit for a very long time, they aren't dumb enough to have not designed an alternative by now. Not having an alternative would be suisidal for the company.

If you honestly do believe they will get shutdown; thats fine with me. I've gotten used to the whole "run around like a chicken with your head cut off" whenever a news story hits about RIM. - So then I'd look into a Windows Smartphone. (If that sounded rude, please excuse it... but it's getting old.)

Haha. That reminds me of this pad I saw at a bookstore. The cover was printed to mimic a blackberry. I'll have to get one of those...

Aside from that, I'll add that I don't mind even if I have to pay a couple bucks more per month for my email.

You must have a T-mobile BB. I don't think any Cingular users would want to pay more than what we are paying now.

Aside from that, I wouldn't mind paying a couple extra bucks per month to keep my email, if I have to.

Oops, sorry for the repost. It didn't show up the first time. And no, I have nextel/sprint. Slightly over $100 per month. It's well worth it to me.

    That's pretty funny.

I'd just grab a pen and notebook. If it has to be electronic I'd have to search for another Sony Clie. Those are the only Palm powered products i can stand! I still haven't warmed up to windows mobile.

I really liked the Clie units, to bad sony quit making them though

I ended up getting a Toshiba PocketPC before the BlackBerry because of that.

PPC 6700 is the device I would (probably am) switch to, I like the format factor of it, reminds me of my old SK2. But either way it looks like I may be switching to that unless I can get my hands on a Sprint 7250 .
