    BB OS no longer just for BB??

    The virtual BlackBerry solution lets devices from third-party manufacturers use widely popular BlackBerry software applications and services. The suite, which will be available later this year, has been slated to run on select Windows Mobile 6-based devices.
    Once the suite is installed on the device, users will be able to access BlackBerry applications that include email, phone, calendar, address book, tasks, memos, browser, instant messaging and other applications once exclusive to the BlackBerry platform. Devices running the software will also be able to connect to BlackBerry services via BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and BlackBerry Internet Service.

    Seems like the blackberry ONLY OS will no longer be only for blackberrys but also for windows. I am a fan of windows but not of windows mobile 6 (If it was OS X i would murder jobs lol) but still RIM and windows= two diff company's they shouldn't get together.....

    Uh i just noticed this is from 2007, but i haven't heard of this....

    Yeah, what's up with this?

    BB = stable
    WM = Hell in a phone
    Apple = Interesting but inefficient phone
    BB and WM = A phone I don't want to ever hear of see.

    I can see RIM licencing their OS to any manufacturer. The only company to ever do that was Palm / Treo. Their Palm OS was dying and they tried to save their hardware business by going Windows Mobile.

    I don't see RIM doing the same thing

    I don't think it would be a wise move. Too much security risk I would think allowing an outside source into your BES.

    Wow,that article is old as dirt and the closest they ever came to that solution was BlackBerry connect...I think the full on virtualization was scrapped long ago.

    Here is the official RIM press release stating it would be launched.

    Yeah that's pretty old news. There were talks about that before but I don't think anything came out of it.
