BB as modem but why not just as a pass thru of the bb browser

I have a 7100i and I was reading the posts regarding using the BB as a dial up modem.....I was wondering if it is possible to use the "BB browser" and just feed that back and forth thru a laptop.....I guess that when I first heard about using the BB as a modem I thought it was just linking the PC to the BB browser. Any thoughts?

Don't think it is possible. Don't see how to get IE or FireFox or for that matter any other Browser to act like the BB Browser.

When you use the BB as a modem it is not acting as a 'dial up modem' but more like a direct connection to the Data Network. Your are not dialing in to an ISP and using that link to the Internet, you are using the BB connection to the Carrier/RIM Network to access the Internet,

It just doesn't have the same speed as a cable modem or DSL set up.

    Does this help you?

you mean to use bb as a proxy?

it may be possible using APN ( not the bb network ) with help of a 'proxy' application on both blackberry and laptop.

And all will depend on bb bluetooth capabilities.

I liked the ideia... i will try to do. ( it may take a while .. )
