    BB Drving Techniques

This is sort of a spin off of another thread I saw on here. In a serious manner, what is the best technique you use for using your blackberry while driving? We all are going to do it regardless of the dangers is an addiction, but who saids we cant do it with some technique?

For directions, I usually have the results on the screen and I periodically scan the unit to make sure I am still on track. I use the speakerphone on my 7105t when I use the phone.
For messages, I only look at them at stop lights.

Well, here is mine...If I am in heavy traffic thats moving quickly, I dont respond to people unless it can only be a word or two...If I am in heavy traffic that is sitting still or barely moving, I use my leg to just make sure I keep the car straight, and use both hands to type...If I am on the road and there aren't many cars on the road, then I usually just use the one handed method...

On a seperate note, here's what I would like to see done...

When you make your own profile under the profiles, not only can you edit the types of ringers or whatnot, however I would like to see it to be able to change the font style, size, background, etc.

Reason being, I keep my font set smaller so that I can read more things at once (Pretty good eyes still), however when i am in the car, I would like to with a touch of a button make the size bigger so that I can leave it in the windsheild holster and be able to read messages that came across.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I tend to steer with my knees while keeping one eye on the road and one on my berry. Lucky for me, I can type without even looking at the berry. So while im typeing im totally focused on the road ahead. Like now.

I put it face up on the seat between my legs.

I feel it vibrate, and if it's a phone call, I can glance down and see who's calling.

Highway little or no traffic = short answers one hand typing.

City driving = stop lights or nothing.

Often, I do pull over to the side and do my BBusiness and then put it away and keep driving.

i steer with my left hand and then hold and type with the right.... works pretty well.... if i am in heavy freeway traffic then i just wait til there is a bit of a break before i resume my typing.

Just like Suzy, left hand on the wheel, right hand on the blackberry. Bluetooth for phone calls.

I would rather not use mine while driving. I understand the point of this thread, but I am still for not using it. If you must.......you can let the person with you steer while you have both hands on your BB. LOL

Usually only check IM or emails at stop lights or in stop-go traffic. If at a stop, I might type only
A few words. I try not to while driving.

I like to hold my BB normally, then get real close to the steering wheel and hold the wheel with the bottom of my hands. Keeps everything in view instead of glancing down.
