    Can the BB be used as an email relay station for you laptop? I often find myself in remote locations where I cannot get internet but I can often get a BB signal. Is it possible to use my laptop as a work station and email the work through my BB?

    Hi Cap. if you have full internet on the BB, you can use the BB as a modem for the laptop, it is not super speed but it does work in a pinch. I have used it a few times. I paid my bills ising my lap top while camping. LOL

    Make sure Blackberry is not connected to computer


    On Computer

    1. Open Blackberry Desktop Manager
      • Confirm that BBDM states - disconnected
    2. Go to Start
    3. Control Panel (Classic View)
    4. Phone / Modem Options
    5. Select the Modems TAB
      • Question - Is there only 1 Standard modem listed here[FONT=Tahoma][FONT=Tahoma][FONT=Tahoma]
    [/FONT][/FONT][/FONT]
        1. If No, highlight each standard modem and press Remove
          • Press OK to get back to Control Panel
          • Select Add / Remove Programs
          • Highlight BBDM and press Change / Remove
          • Press Next
          • Select Repair
            • Note - Software CD maybe required or Internet Access to download current software
          • Use default settings to complete repair of software
          • Reboot computer and continue from Step 2
        2. If Yes, located the Standard Modem and Highlight it
      • Question - does the standard modem have numbers behind it ? (example; 33600, 56000, etc.)
        1. If Yes, go to Step 5-1 as if multi modems where present and continue from there
        2. If No, with Standard Modem Highlighted press Properties
          • Go to Advance TAB
          • Extra Initialization String
          • at+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"
          • Press OK
          • Press OK
    From the Control Panel select Network Connections
      • Delete all previous attempts to create Dialup connection for this device
        1. Select Create New Connection
        2. Next
        3. Connect to Internet and Next
        4. Setup Connection Manually and Next
        5. Connect Using Dialup Modem and Next
        6. Make sure Only the Standard Modem has a check, Uncheck all other modems and Next
          • (Screen does not always appear)
        7. ISP Name - T-Mobile or Blackberry modem and Next
          • (Spelling and name is customers choice)
        8. Phone Number - *99# and Next
        9. Username and Password - Leave These fields blank and uncheck all boxes and Next
          • Note - (Username and Password will be assigned by the computer customer should not be concerned with these 2 fields)
        10. Check the Box that offers to create desktop shortcut
        11. Press Finish
          • (new window will open, close this window)
      • Back in the Network Connections Window
        1. Right Click on Connection Name Just created
        2. Left Click on properties
        3. Open Networking TAB
        4. Press Settings Button
        5. Uncheck all boxes
        6. Press OK
        7. Press OK
      • Close the Control Panel Window
    Blackberry Desktop Manager should be open and currently State status of disconnected
    Connect Blackberry to computer via USB Cable
      • Blackberry Desktop Manager status should change to connected and show a PIN
      • Locate and open the dialup shortcut which was created earlier
      • Press Dial
