    Backup/Restore ?...

If you click on "CANCEL" during either of these operations, what happens? Does it act as if though you never attempted a Backup/Restore? Just curious. Thanks

    Re: Backup/Restore ?...

Funny you should ask. Just the other day I meant to do a selective restore (of Profiles) and I mis-clicked and it started doing a full restore. I pressed Cancel as fast as I could, and then checked to see what I lost. I had lost my contacts, and I knew that immediately because I got an SMS right afterwards which only showed the number instead of the name.

I then just resync'd with Outlook to restore my contacts, although I could have restored the contacts from the backup just as easily.

I would imagine that the restore process isn't a true overwrite, but instead a delete-restore, delete-restore, delete-restore of each database; and that a backup is much the same but in a different direction. If you abort a backup, I'd either delete the backup file and/or do another good backup right afterwards.

I always do a backup before any sort of restore operation. If something goes wrong, I can either fall back on the backup I just made, or an older backup.
