    Backup & Restore of photos

Does anyone have any ideas on this...?

I've just replaced an 8700 BB. The user said there was nothing to backup on his faulty BB, so I went ahead and re-activated him on the brand new BB.

Then, he calls saying there were some photos he's just remembered, on the old one that needs back..!!! Fortunatley, I've still got his old BB, so I backed it up using the Desktop Manager to my laptop.

Thing is, how do I now get the photos onto either my laptop or my 8300 so I can email them back to him or burn them a disc to send back?

I've tried using Roxio for Blackberry that comes with the 8300 but it doesn't pick up the older 8700 BB.

    Please help!

Plug in his phone to your comp. Run desktop manager and make a backup of the old phone. Name it something you will remember. Get his new phone, plug it in and do a restore. Stop it before it finishes the first step or it will restore everything. Go back in, do a selective restore, it may be under advanced and just restore the "content store" to the new phone. That should move all his pics and ringtones to the new one.

I'm not sure how to get the pics off and email them.

If the old 8700 had OS 4.2 you may be able to use the media manager, but it may not have it.

Re: Backup & Restore of photos

Thanks for your advise, but it's trying to get access to those photos and getting tham on my laptop that I'm having difficulty with.

    I've just thought of something!!!!

If I upgrade the OS to a recent version, I could use Media Manager to get the photos onto my laptop.

But, by upgrading, does this wipe any files, like these photos, from his Berry?

    Thanks.

    Now that's a great idea...thanks!

But, what I did was just upgrade the Berry to V4.2.xxx

This now works with the Roxio media software. Now i've got them on my laptop i just emailed them to him...wey hey!!

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

Glad you figured it out, that's what I thought might work in my 2nd post.
