I have a new 8700 to replace my "worse for wear" 8700. I have a few ringtones, message alerts and pictures that I would like to keep. Is there a way of just backing/transferring to the new device just the items I want?

    thanks stackers.....

Hi geoffm, give me a few minutes looking into this myself to see what I can find out.

I'm guessing after looking at Desktop Manager and the advanced restore options that it's probably Content Store. Not 100% sure but try it.

    ahh found a way.

In desktop manager 4.2 there is a switch device wizard... does it all for you... COOL.

    thanks again.

Glad you solved your own problem and I learned something new today but I thought you only wanted a selective backup and not a total backup and restore. Good working out!

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

For the record, doing a full backup in DM 4.1 will embed custom ringtones and profiles and all settings into the ipd file.

I know this from switching to new devices; it's not just theory.
