Auto Recognition of Numeric Field
Why doesn't the BB recognize that the Zip field is supposed to be Numbers. Is there a part of the world that uses Letters as well? Couldn't the programmers program the software to recognize the region the BB is used in and just program it to auto recognize that the Zip is all Numeric in the US?
If it's not all numeric in the U.S. I'm sure that for the most part, the Zip is numeric. Kind of retarded for a SmartPhone.
Yes, there are countries that don't use strictly numeric values for the Postal Code, Probably more than have that limitation. Yes, they could make it part of the Regional settings but that would bloat the software package and make editing of the Address book slower.
Just one of the trade offs when looking at processor speed, battery life, Memory Storage and other factors.
In fact, Canada uses a X9X X9X format (home of RIM).
Where are you putting a zip code in? If it is on a website then its the creator of the websites fault for not designing the field as numeric only and if a program same reason the BB can only go on the info that is given~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
I was assuming it was the Postal Code/Zip code in the Address book.
Yeah...in the Address Book. Oh, well...guess I'm just gonna have to look forward to it being implemented in future OS's. But, being RIM is a canadian company...makes sense...since they use alpha-numeric zip codes.
