Apparently not -- see this recent thread: Insurance for Blackberry (Cingular) . However, warrantys are available. See http://www.squaretrade.com -- high-end cell phones waranteed for less than two bucks a month.

my fiance wants to switch from nextel to cingular or at&t and i someone told me they might not offer insurance between the both of us were on diffrent accounts we have had about 3o r 4replacement BB in about 12 months and any company that dont offer insurance is suspect i know phone companys dont keep blackberrys at least sprint dont so when they replace them its a new phone out the box but its bad enough loseing or breaking a cheap phone but a $400 or $500 plus phone is unacceptable thats reason enough for me to stay where im at

Once again, you don't have to get insurance via your carrier. You can choose from a number of third party providers. Safeware is frequently mentioned but whoever provides your homeowner's (or other) insurance is worth checking with as well.

I hardly see why not offering insurance makes at&t "suspect". Yes, they do have their issues but not offering insurance is really, really minor.

    Re: at&t insurance

As a corporate customer, AT&T has sold us a spare BB (at reduced, subsidized rate, but without a voice/data plan) as we needed them to do replacements on our own. Normally we're able to tap the 1 year warranty for most issues (microphone, handheld oddities, etc). Once someone lost a handheld and someone else had water damage, so we used the spare BB in those cases. So we probaly broken even (vs) what insure might cost per year all on all of the phones.

I'm sure AT&T has their reasons for not offering insurance. It sure isn't because no one is inquiring!
