Hey guys. As you all know, having a lot of emails on blackberry makes it kinda slow. Like over a few thousand. I am just wondering how I can store them as a backup for restoring later when needed. Or view with outlook or such. Any ways to do it??

    Gene,

We need a bit more info to help. It depends on the email account. If it is your @xxx.blackberry account then you are pretty much out of luck. If it is another POP account Outlook or Outlook Express might be the answer....I assume it is not a standard on line account like gmail, yahoo, etc?

What I do is to store each month's messages in a selective backup file on my desktop, then delete all messages from the Berry. I seem to always have extra BBs hanging around, so If I want to find a message I simply do a restore of the specific month the message is in to another Berry. If you don't have an extra BB, then backup the current messages, restore the one you want to look at, then restore the current one back.

    So: October just ended.
1.) I did a selective backup (using Desktop Manager) of just messages (emails, sms, phone call log) into a folder on my computer, and called the file 1008.
2.) I deleted all messages on my Berry.
3.) At the end of November, I'll do the same.
4.) If I need to look at a message from a previous month, I just do a restore to my backup BB.

I am using pop so I am just mainly on gmail. Outlook does sound good, but I also want to keep the messages that I have sent from the blackberry.

I was thinking about that, that's a pretty good idia. And I do have a spare 72xx right by my bed. So that does sound like an exelent idia to me. Now the problem that I see with that is it will eventually fill up. I do insane amont of emails and messages. Well not too many. About 30 a day totall I would say. So its about an MB or so a month. So the 7280 would be full. I can give that a shot though.

The main thing is now. Can I just keep addin messages through the back up to the device? Or will it always just overwrite what ever was on it before?

Outlook should do what you are asking easily. Additionally with Outlook it is simple to archive older emails and still have easy access and search capabilities. If you choose to go this route it is also pretty simple to keep your sent items...just bcc yourself all outgoing emails, filter them out of your BB (set both of these items up on your BIS page) and set up a Blackberry Sent rule and file folder in outlook to collect them. Let me know if you need any help with any of this....
