    Question Apps won't delete

I am using a T-Mobile 8700g, and have installed 2 applications that will not delete. PicoNews and GoogleMaps. Neither show up in my applications delete list. PicoNews did, I erased it, and it is still there. Any ideas? Thanks for the help, I have learned a lot from reading these posts over the last few months.

Welcome to pinstack If that happens to me I do a hard reboot. Its normally gone then. Also look in advanced options - applications and delete it from there. Hope this helps!

You can go into options, applications, click trackwheel and choose modules. You can then look through the modules and see if there is anything to do with those apps, and feel free to delete them. Also, redownload the apps and try to delete them again.

    CP! Sweet!

    I forgot about that!

When I installed the new Google Maps ota, it asked me if I wanted to replace 1.2 with 1.3, and I said yes, but then I had two copies of G-Maps.

Tried to delete, and it only deleted 1.3.

Anyway, story is, I still had 2 copies of Maps. But deleting the module fixed that!

    Thanks!

Something else I picked up- if you are forced to delete modules to get rid of an app- REBOOT your device.

ALT + CAPS + DEL - will initiate a reboot.

Thanks CP! That modules trick was just what I needed. This should be a heads up to anyone that wants to upgrade their GMaps software. Gotta delete the old one first.

So why is it that some software upgrades perfectly right out of the box, and some installs a second copy?

Because some developers take the time to do it right, with lots of internal beta or limited volonteer beta testing and others get it partially working and release it to the general Public in a beta version.
