Any way of stopping tracking of Blackberry?
I might be getting a black berry from my employers, and I don't mind having one so long as we are payed for the work we do, but not having a pay rise in the last 8 years just ain't on, and now they want to track us so I was wondering is ther any way we can stop/block the gps or tracking function and just use the phone function?
Or do these things work to gether?
Just being honest.
Hi Kakka, the main thing tracked is the E-mail and such things form the device, but the company has to be on a BES, as far as tracking your whereabouts with the GPS, If it can be done, and the company has a BES, then no, that is one of the main reasons BB is so secure and used by the DOD and DOE, a BES admin has total control. they can stop the camera from working if they want to, they can wipe the device remotly if it is lost or stolen.
OK update to this, I guess there are some programs out ther to do this, so if the comapny loads it, It can be locked, if they are not on a BES, then sure you can disable or uninstall it.

What model are they using? Not all BB's have GPS....I used to tell my sales staff that I could track their locations just to keep them on their toes
^^ that's funny !

Actually, any cell phone can be tracked, BlackBerry or not, smart or not...
[You can bet my people are on their toesies ]

Yeha technically any device can be tracked by triangulating its signal from the cell towers...as far as BES admins and such though...only GPS enabled devices with the GPS enabled can be tracked by the BES
It seems there should be a certain level of trust when working for a company though I understand that losing money through lost productivity does not produce results. I guess I'm glad I don't have to deal with it.
