    8800 vs Curve 8300 - Differences?

What are the differences between the BlackBerry 8800 and the BlackBerry Curve 8300 (my current device), particularly from a software point of view?

Also, can anyone clarify is the BlackBerry 8800 has a camera or not? From what I can tell it doesn't, but I'm not 100% sure...

What do you mean "world" phone?

    Is it tri or quad-band?

Isn't the Curve 8300 quad or tri-band, also?

The 8800 is a GSM, VERY similar to the Curve software wise.

The 8800 is a bit bigger than the 8300, and the keys are a little larger.

There is definitely NO camera. I will post a few pics of an 8800 and 8310 next to each other in a sec.

The 8800 does not have a camera, but the Curves all do (8300, 8310 and the 8320). Further, the 8800 has Wifi, but the Curve, depending on which one you get, either has GPS or Wifi. The 8300 does not have Wifi nor GPS, but the 8310 does have GPS. The 8320 has Wifi as well. I'm not sure if it has GPS or not, but I know that the carrier for that model is Tmobile.

Because most government officials use the Blackberry as it's the safest device since it's pretty much hacker proof, the camera was taken out as a security measure. The bb is known to be a business phone and most business people don't need cameras. They need access to their emails.

I mainly use my BlackBerry Curve 8300 for Internet and e-mail access, multimedia (music & video playback), as well as Facebook and instant messaging (via JiveTalk)...

Are there any differences between the two models with these functions?

    "A bit bigger"?

Dude, next to the BlackBerry Curve 8300, the BlackBerry 8800 is a dinosaur! LOL

    Are you sure about this?

I don't have a computer, so I was researching the Telstra version of the BlackBerry 8800 using my BlackBerry Curve 8300's browser (that was a mouthful to say!) and I'm pretty sure it didn't mention this...

If someone's in front of a computer, can they please clarify the features, as listed on Telstra's Web site (http://www.telstra.com.au)?

    Thanks!

Just had a more extensive look at Telstra's Web site and unless I'm missing it on the small screen, there's definately no mention of wireless networking ("Wi-Fi") on the BlackBerry 8800... Again, any of you are welcome to confirm this at their Web site (see above), and I would be more than appreciative.

By the way, I DID find yet another camera-free BlackBerry listed on Telstra's site - the BlackBerry 8700g...

Strange thing is, according to Telstra's Web site, it's pretty much identical to the BlackBerry 8800 (I think the usage times were slightly different), and marginally different to the BlackBerry Curve 8300!

I'm confused - surely they don't have three devices they are almost identical (except for minor design differences)?

By the way, on my small screen, the BlackBerry 8700g looks a LOT sexier than the BlackBerry 8800 AND my BlackBerry Curve 8300... It looks more, masculine.

The 8700 is larger than the 8800, and a lot thicker as well. Also, it doesn't have a trackball, but a trackwheel on the right side.

And the 8800 has GPS, not wifi. The 8820 has GPS and Wifi.

Software wise, they are pretty much the same. If we're comparing vanilla 8300 and 8800. They are almost the same device except for the camera, gps, different cases and keypads.

keep in mind the 8800 only has os4.2.1 wheres every other 8xxx series has 4.2.2 or higher installed.
differences are minor but maybe small enough to bother you. so keep that in mind.
