this whole thread makes me nervous!!! I know I would mess it all up, but to save $110 in technical charges, I would probably try it. |

OMFG I LOVE YOU!!!!!!! my blackberry pearl got wet in rain and was glicthy to say the least, after a while just the trackball wouldn't press as a button anymore as the only issue, following your steps i took it apart, dried the circuits and works good as new! ![]() LOVE YOU! |

Another Sucess story, may I suggest / add, NOTE: when in step 1) Pop off the retaining plastic piece. You can use anything really(small screwdriver, fingernail, whatever) just be careful not to break off the clips that keep it in place. IT HAS 3 tabs, @ 3, 6, 9 o'clock, none 12 o'clock/top/screen side. (I HOPE that is right, and I didn't break mine grins) Last edited by jeepnh; 09-18-2007 at 09:17 AM. Reason: Automerged. |

I like the advice but I would just get a case...I bought My case a week before I got My Pearl. I only had mine since Wednesday (9/19) This must be a rugged *** phone. how sturdy are these things seriously. to be able to just take em apart like that. I understand the need to take great care with the small parts though as I used to be an assistant manager at Radio Shack. But as far as the sturdy question...Any other Pearl ownin "Stackers" willin to give me a lil feedback...thnx

I had roofing tar gunking up the works--the result of trying to be a good samaritan and fixing a friend's leaky roof. I thought my phone was a goner. But these instructions enabled me to clean up and restore my trackball to working condition--something I thought would be impossible (for me, at least). For saving me a trip to the AT&T store, with its notoriously laconic staff and eternal wait times, I owe you! Let me know if I can ever fix your roof! : )
