Re: Trackball Cleaning and Disassembly w/ PICTURES

This is good information. I was hesitant to try it but had nothing to lose. I would just like to add: Pay close attention to the dissassembly, take your time and gently remove the parts. I don't remember the position of the metal retaining clip. Do the tabs on the retaining clip belong in the up and down position or the left and right position? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes to all!

I'm new to Pinstack so please excuse my ignorance and inexperience of communicating. What is the proper alignment of the retaining clip, should the tabs be in the left and right or the up and down position?

The retaining clip tabs go should be inserted with the tabs up and down and not left and right. i.e. one goes in between the monitor and the trackball, and one goes between the keyboard and the trackball. Hope that helps!

Re: Trackball Cleaning and Disassembly w/ PICTURES

appreciate this. It would not scroll down and I was really gonna hack up my phone. I was looking for torx bits to take the whole thing apart....i just looked at the pics and it was saved

After i reassembled it it was not working well, even with the mags in the right directions. I just did some super scrolling in all directions and I think its tracking...

Good shiza....

Thanks for this, found it very helpful (the dust thing has been bugging me for ages!) Do you also know if there's anyway I can take my screen off safely to clean that too? Somehow there's dust under there that I REALLY want to get out!!

lindsey for dust under the screen, you will actually need to take apart the whole phone. Not for the faint of heart. I've done it twice now. The hardest part was to get the bottom piece of the phone off. (piece what the branding)

Re: Trackball Cleaning and Disassembly w/ PICTURES

nice tutorial, I was able to get the trackball out and blow some air on it and get it clean. Working like a charm now

I had a question though. Inside the phone where the trackball assembly is housed there are some grooves which are pretty grimy with dirt, i tried blowing air into them, but it still didn't help with getting it clean. Any suggestions on what I can safely use?

I would try using a dry Q-tip. Don't use a wet one
