phillyslix,

Are you talking about one on the Blackberry itself? If so, I haven't heard of one yet.

I have the same question - I write SMS more often than email, and the lack of a quick shortcut to compose an SMS is really bugging me... I would really love a shortcut to compose an SMS (not email) on the BB - please, help? thx

Re: shortcuts/ Tips for the BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Short of memorizing the letters assigned to each number on a standard telephone keypad (2=ABC, 3=DEF, etc.), is there some way to display this information on the Pearl's screen so that locating a person's extension on an automated phone directory by dialing their name can be done more readily?

I took a picture of a normal phone with the numbers on it for exactly that reason. I just look at the pic when I need to know what letters go with what numbers

Try pressing the ALT key and typing the letters of the name. The Pearl will automatically convert the letters to the proper DTMF tone for and get you extension.

Re: shortcuts/ Tips for the BlackBerry Pearl 8100

~via 8100 Pearl (wap.pinstack.com)~ I just got my 8100 and have been searching for a way to hide icons I don't use. I have been able to do this with all other models but this one. Help?

Re: shortcuts/ Tips for the BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Erica, What theme are you using? If an Icon Theme press the menu button on the home screen and do just like you used to on the other models. If the Zen or Today themes, I believe you have to open the Apps Menu and select Organize Applications, Then Select the App and use the Menu, Move App or Hide app commands.

hope this helps

Right now I'm using the T-Mo Zen that came with the phone.

Update: That worked. I totally forgot the dropdown menu is now the Menu key LOL

dial conference calls with auto passcode entry

great shortcut for dialing into a conference bridge with one glitch - if you need to get into a conference number with 888xxx-xxxx and then enter a passcode xxxxx - all you have to do is combine the number and passcode with an 'X' - - 888xxx-xxxxXxxxxx; you can also use 'ext' - - 888xxx-xxxxEXTxxxxx and the phone will connect to the conference bridge and after a short delay pulse out the passcode and you're in.

only problem I have found is a very weird situation - for some reason when the number is 866xxx-xxxxXxxxxx for some strange reason it does not outpulse the passcode digits - and when you input the passcode digits - the phone then wakes up and after you've entered the passcode digits - it then starts the pause and outpulses the passcode digits - very strange - and only happens with 866 numbers for some reason.

Re: shortcuts/ Tips for the BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Apologies if this is in the wrong part of the forum, but I've been reading around and couldn't find any better place to put it,

Can anyone tell if you can view emails in HTML format on the blackberry. I just set my account up last night for the first time, and my Yahoo emails are coming in fine. However, they are loaded with strings of code, instead of the visuals you usually get with them. When I go to a browser page, however, I see everything fine.

So, I know the device has the capability to do it. Is there some setting I have to change to view the emails correctly?

Thanks.

Dave
