When I was in ATL, I was getting between 120K and 131K. I was totally impressed. Normally, it's around 90K'ish.

I am using it right now, at 230.4 kbps on a Windows XP Media Center OS, HP Pavilion dv2120us Entertainment Notebook PC. I've never had a problem since posting the original post on this thread. Guess I'm just lucky.

Re: Pearl, T-mobile, tethered modem

How I got mine to work. Very simple, no need for crazy setups.

1. Set the Initialization command in the "Standard Modem" to:

+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"

2. Setup the Dialup Connection as explained earlier to *99#, no uid/pw.

3. Open Desktop Manager software.

4. Dial the Connection!

Also noted that I was able to leave the compression on, and I'm connected at 921.6.

Re: Pearl, T-mobile, tethered modem

if your running on windows xp as soon as your computer finishes connecting to the internet, in the bottom right hand corner, it will say for a brief second what speed your connected at. It will be in the yellow ballon that says new hardware found.

Control Panel>Network Connections.
Right click on the Standard Modem you set up according to the directions in the first post in this thread.
Click Properties
Click Networking
Below the PPP window click Settings
Check box for Enable software compression

Re: Pearl, T-mobile, tethered modem

cool! ....did that ( compression, and max speed ) but I'm still only getting MAYBE 40.5 on the speed test I did on one of theose free speed test sites....(bandwithplace.com)
and speakeasy.com says I have 52kbs DL speed , 74kbs UL speed.....
I have 4 bars on the edge system....even though according to the connect speed I'm sitting at 921.6......so what gives?
