i upgraded, and now all of my themes, downloaded games, pictures, ringtones downloaded are all gone, any way of getting them back? (other than re-downloading again?)

When you upgraded right before it started it has two options one to Backup your device or not to. If you have already updated they are most likely gone.

Sorry but you are going to have to redownload them.

ahh I did that and I can't find the files physically on the phone, yet when I try to re-download them, it says they are still installed and would I like to replace them

just an addition- i did the restore, and all of my preferences came back, yet the games are still gone, did I do something wrong in the backup?

I tried to load this upgrade and when I did, it told me:

"Error reading setup initialization file"

What did I do wrong!?!

Its not really necessary. Some of us just like having the newest OS that's released, although there are times that a newer version of an OS is actually less stable than the current version of an Operating System.

Sometimes the newer OS has fixed bugs that the previous OS had.

It pretty much boils down to personal preference...For example, I like the autodim feature and some don't, so I am not switching the OS unless it has the auto-dim feature available.

It sounds to me as if you didn't manage to download the file successfully. I would try and download it again - and check the size when you have downloaded it.

OK, I'm lost! I was able to d/l it and installation when fine...

But it's not getting onto my Pearl!

Anyone feel like writing a step by step for this poor n00b?

are you launching the app loader to install onto the device?
