| help... my 8120 keeps rebooting
Was so happy to get my Pearl2 earlier today.. after installing IM+, it failed to start up and now keeps rebooting... don't think my telco will give me a new set since it wasn't an out-of-box failure.. |

It never hurts to ask your company if they'd give you a new one. How often is it rebooting?? Are you sure you SIM is properly seated in its compartment?? Also, a friend of mine was having the same problem and her boyfriend narrowed it down to her IM client. She had to a fresh install of the OS without the IM client and now it works fine. She had a 7290, but it sounds like you're having the same problem. I hope you work it out!! Let me know. :] |

Also, read up on everything you download before you put it in your phone. Even though it may not be intentional, some apps still haven't worked out all the bugs and kinks in their programs. That's what sites like this are here for!

thanks... it's definitely the IM+.. sigh.. am trying to reinstall the OS.. i'm stuck at the point where the BB mgr says that there is no BB device software for the connected device.. that despite having downloaded a multilanguage version from Orange UK (my local telco only has the Chinese version for the 8120).. |

I know that this thread is abit old now but it may not be your BB but your memory card! I took delivery of my pearl 2 a couple of days ago and after transfering contacts etc then added my memory card. About an hour later my BB started to keep rebooting. It turned out that I need to format my memory card with my BB!?! ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ |

I just moved from the 8100 to the 8120 and I'm having the same rebooting problem. Thank goodness for this thread or I would have never considered the memory card as the cause of my issues. But here's the problem now... I reformat the card and everything works great... until I try to put any files (music, pics, ringtones, etc.) back on the card - then it goes right back to the rebooting cycle!! Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I may have the answer!! The first day I had my 8120 the same happened. After a panic it turned out the all it was was the memory card!! I know that this sounds mad but this is what happened. I transfered all my contacts etc from my 8100 via the desktop dm. Then after checking the settings were all the same I took my memory card from my 8100 and placed it into my 8120. About 1/2 and hour and all was fine then I went onto the memory card via my 8120 and suddenly the red light came on as if it was rebooting. It reset and for a few minutes all seemed fine but then the same thing happened. I deleted a couple of the programs that I had transferred but the problem continued. Out of complete dispare and thinking that I had received a bad BB I removed the memory card to place back into the 8100. For some reason it stopped rebooting! I formatted the memory card using my 8120 then placed all the original info back onto the card and all worked! I've not got the answer to why this was but clearly this was what was causing the problem. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ |

I did reformat the card - several times! It would be fine until I moved my files back on to it and then it started rebooting again... it was driving me crazy!! But I seem to have finally figured it out. I had all of my pictures, music, etc. arranged in folders and I was copying the folders back to the card. Apparently, the 8120 did not like those folders for some reason. When I created new folders via the BB and then just moved the files over into the correct new folders - everything thing was great. Problem solved... |

prolly because the device was trying to load the folders and it was complying with the device |

grr, should have read this thread before taking my 8130 to the Verizon store. My 1st 8130 started the rebooting not so fun process. I thought all was well, until my newer 8130 started doing the same thing. Guess those hidden folders I created don't mix with this newer OS as they did on my TMO 8100. Thank goodness for PinStack once again. Transferring files now from BB to PC, will format the SD (and defrag the card as well) and hopefully I'll be good. |

Let us know if that solves the problem for you too. Like you said, thank goodness for PinStack or we'd all be out of luck! |
