Nope, the cheap bastards are shipping the 8100 without any case at all.

Thanks for the quick response...not too many places have carrying cases for now, and the ones I have seen are not really to my liking.....

Gez at least they could give me a cheap case to hold a person over......

I just found a few different case styles on Ebay, though I doubt if any were made specifically for the 8100, I maybe wrong, I found them to be unattractive...I am a female you know...

Ebay did have a case by Body Glove, I am wondering if you can have access to all the side buttons while in its case. No sense in having a case that you have to remove the BB out to have access...Right ?

I will be using my 7100t Krusell case for the 8100 as a temp solution until a Krusell 8100 case comes out. I find Krusell cases are the best, good fit, good belt clip, etc.

That one that's on eBay, Body Glove, is not that nice. It's just a holster that requires one to pull the phone out for use. It's almost the same as the 7100t case that came with the phone.

Does anyone know how to turn on the speaker ? My pearl works as a phone, but the phone does not ring, i cant hear the ring tones, the trackball is silent, etc... I don't get any audible feedback.

The phone is pretty cool. I bought the case with the magnet in it. Didn't like it at first but then realized I needed to set the phone to go into sleep mode when it it was in the case.

But, I have yet to figure out how to get the phone to reconize my media card, so I can play the mp3's. Anyone figure this out yet?

After two days of handling the 8100, my colleagues and I would like to suggest that a lens cleaning cloth be included with it. It smudges if you look at it hard, and wiping it down with anything else but a lens cloth makes it look worse.
Either that or cotton gloves for handling it.

The failure to include a case of any kind is really unacceptable though.

I have just ordered one for my girlfriend, had it for 4 days. I kinda like it, it's very simple, and very quick as well. the camera it pritty sharp and I also like the colors.It's nice. I havent tryed using it, just played with it a few times and I find it very cool. In everyday life i normally use my new Nokia E61 aka BB killer, so I had something to compare with. O yeah it's so much smaller and lighter. the girls will deffenetly like it. So, I have noticed a couple of things: the sub menu system is kind of ugly and to me was kind of complicated. the weel is awesome, i hevent seen anything more genius than this little weel. the speakerphone sucks, E61 beats it 10:0, the mp3 ringtones don't sound as good as on Nokia. for some reason I can not find the browser, but may be it's just me. Overal first impression - great smartphone from BB. I think it's a great alternative , it's something in berween the tipical smartphone and full Keyboard handheld. Very powerfull, multitask oriented. email on the go, sms. not the fan of this kind of keyboard layout, but should be much easier than reg phone.

Hey all first time poster here and also first time BB user. I just wanted to add my two cents to this discussion. Went to my local TMobile store yesterday and they had one style of case for the Pearl. Its not bad and is keeping my screen from getting scratched so I can't really complain. Its just your run of the mill basic one. It is serving as a good option until something better comes along; which always does. Also the guy in the store told me they were rolling out a lot of Pearl stuff at the end of the month.
