My mother gave me a cell phone / service as a gift, (I pay the bill) is there a way to hide my mother's name from showing up on the caller id w/out making it private / blocked some of my contacts do not allow calls from private / blocked numbers.

Just call your carrier. They did it for me when i added a phone for my step son. Since he had a different last name.

Also there may be a way in the phone that alows that. I have had several motorola phones and the two blackberries give you the option.

May want to look under the settings.
