Thumbs down Use a 8700 as a modem on Cingular service?

I see lots of posts on how to use Blackberry as a modem. I have a model 8700 that I cannot get to work. Has anyone been able to use this model as modem on their laptop?

Am looking for some help, if anyone on this board has been successful in getting this device to work.

When I query the modem, I get the following:

I used the instructions from the various sites that I found. All the instructions are similar, yet I am not able to make any headway with getting this to work.

    Any recommendations?

With Cingular, don't they have tethering shut off unless you purchase a tethering plan that is like $60/month?

I just purchased the tethering plan for $74.99, which replaces the blackberry plan. It took a little work from the tech support guys at cingular but, it seems to tether quite well. I would recommend spending some time with those folks but, of course you will need a tethering plan. other wise they will no longer let you enable it.
