There is an easier fix for this...


Go Into media

then choose any folder in there for arguments sake lets choose music

while in the music folder press the menu key and choose options

Change the Device Memory Limit to 12MB
Change the Reserved Pictures memory to 5MB

this free's up 13MB of reserved space the defaults are to large... this has been fixed in the 4.2.1.66 software version

I also have found that anytime you receive service books on your device it also clears the call log... and some carriers send service books quite frequently

Do you delete your messages manually often?

It has not happened to me since I first got my pearl. I'm pretty diligent about deleting emails, and unwanted SMS/MMS.

I bought a shiny new 2GB expansion card, is there no way to install applications to the card instead of to the device memory?

Faada. You can't load apps on the card. Its a media card. You can manipulate the card and utilize it as a flash drive but you can't access *files* you save on it from the device. Only thru the usb cord/pc.

Ok thanks, seems like an incredible waste of all that memory. My Palm Pilot for example could store huge application databases on the expansion card.

but then i guess My Palm Pilot couldn't make calls

My Treo 750 can make calls and does allow storing all kinds of apps on the 1gb memory card. I agree its an incredible waste of the memory card to not have that feature on the Pearl. Wish we could do something about it!
