    FYI Only

You have enabled the 'Content Protection' option on the handheld, which encrypts data stored locally on the handheld. When you unlock the handheld, it goes through a process of decrypting the data so you are able to view the contents.

    How to Enable/Disable 'Content Protection'

1 - From the Home screen, select Options > Security.
2 - Scroll down to Content Protection, and click the trackwheel. Select Change Option.
3 - Select Enable or Disabled. Click the trackwheel again and select Save to save your changes.

Oh, if you do enable content protection, then you must set a handheld password. = )

I thought of that. Cingular does not offer phone insurance.

I love forum spam, why hasn't the post above been deleted... Oh well. For those of you wondering the delay while decrypting the handheld is very minimal. This was my biggest question / concern before I enabled the content protection.

Well, to me on a 7290 then a 8700 running up to V4.1.0351 I tried different versions,
content protection with encryption resulted in uncaught.java.execption at each boot which disabled the Web browser. If I disable encryption everything turns fine....

Generally with phone insurance, you need to complete a police report in order to get your new phone. And filing a false police report would be a jailable offence.
    Have fun with that.

Better idea, sell your current phone on ebay, bite the bullet and purchase a new phone
