    battery with nix through it

I thought this would be the best place to post this, but I put a new battery in my bb 8800 and I got this battery with a slash through it. This was the same problem I had with my old battery. And I have another problem. My usb port is busted and I can't connect to my computer. Is there any way I can fix this without connecting to computer? Any help appreciated

That image means that the device does not have a compatible battery installed. Now in your case it could mean that the battery is not the right size, fully discharged, or there is a hardware issue with your device that is causing the error. You may want to begin by inspecting the battery contacts inside the device.

Is the USB port on your computer or your BB busted? If it's the BB then you should just be able to get a bluetooth dongle for your computer and connect to Desktop Manager that way. I haven't done it myself, but it should be possible.

If the USB port on your BB is busted how are your batteries being charged? Do you have an external charger?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com) actually I am using a standard wall charger with the end cut off and the two wires connected to the charging terminals on the side of the phone. I can't connect via bluetooth since it doesn't power on.

you charge with bare wires??? how did you determine polarity? this is direct current and connecting the leads in reverse will damage the regulator inside of the batt. sounds like your lucky you did not fry the whole device.. do a search (ebay) for usb port for your model device and get one (under ten dollars) get the tools (k mart/sears sells the small torqs driver for two dollars)and change the port out then look for a new batt and charger. or another device on ebay or here in the for sale section. and when you get your next device new pay the couple dollars for the extended coverage i spend a few dollars on the service plan and have replaced a dozen berries for half the price of one new one if you add up the cost of the service plan over time
    good luck
