Ok, Yeah, this doesn't work for the 8130@all! I installed the Verizon .60 OS, made the ID changes to all of the entries, and deleted Vendor, took 30 minutes to do that for nothing. no UNLOCKED themes appeared in my Themes list. Just the same stuff I had before.
Now I am reverting back to my trusted Sprint .71.
I didn't notice any differences between the 2, except the version numbers.lol

Anyway, another 30 minutes to go back to what I know.

Re: Straight line instructions to activate Vendor Themes (Except 8130)

Hey guys, I just got a Curve 8310 last night so I'm new to this BlackBerry thing, but this seems like a pretty simple solution and I really want to get it done and I'm having a bit of a problem. I navigate to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion" and see no "Shared" folder. The only folders I have are AppLoader (I see the vendor.xml file in there), BBBI Drivers, Modem Drivers, RIMDeviceManager and USB Drivers. Are there any other ways to get this done without the Shard folder? Or how do I get the damn thing to show up? lol

also I have been reading about this "hourglass of doom" thing that I seem to have a problem with. Anyone know a solution for it? I've been trying to find one myself cuz it's pretty damn annoying to have to wait 5 minutes just to turn my phone on. Thanks guys.

Go back and repeat step 5 of the procedure in the first post.

Well, in the process of trying to get themes installed I realized I needed to install the OS on my comp and that seems to have fixed the issue. Still have to fix that hourglass problem though. Thanks.

Re: Straight line instructions to activate Vendor Themes (Except 8130)

after loading apps the bb will 'reboot' itself and yes, i've seen it take up to 5 or so minutes. that's ONLY with a reboot and hopefully you won't be doing that much after you get all your customizing done

so...who is your carrier? rc's instructions will work perfect, but every single detail must be followed and if you leave one step out, it won't work at all...

My carrier is AT&T. I think his instructions worked out just fine, just finished updating the CORE files and the phone is....reinitializing again...hah....anyway I found some instructions in another thread that are supposed to fix it so we'll see what happens. Thanks for the help. =)

you probably didn't install the handheld software. many download it, but don't install it.

that's the only reason why you wouldn't see the files.

I was hesitant to post this, but on the offhand chance there may be some one as dense as me, I will.

I was actually typing A for my vendor ID. I went through several installs of the program before I carefully reread the instructions and the light bulb came on.

Worked like a charm when I followed the instructions. Now I have a bunch of cool new themes.

    Thanks a bunch!

Yes It Works Fine for the 8120. Or at least no one has complained about it not working. If it doesn't, we can always help you recover fairly quickly.
