Help.....I recently acquired a unlocked T-Mobile BB7290. Worked great until the other day. After trying to download a 3rd party app, through Desktop Manager, unit locked up. NOW, when I turn it on, hourglass THEN, Device error :400 reset. How can I re-install the Handheld software to return it to it's operating state??

I would try putting the battery back in as soon as it flips to waiting for device initialization. Remember to be patient. Hope it helps. Welcome to the Stacks.

I am having issues after step 8.....after selecting the items to be installed on hitting next the installations happens and after some time an error message is displayed “Unable to complete the loading operation – Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation”.

I even tried with the java loaded…but still the same issue.

    Please help me out.

Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

i've tried the 13 steps outlined but i still cant get my bb to even turn on. the red light comes on for a few seconds nad goes and that is it. I tried to upgrade the OS and it froze at the Load JVM and system software. It was like that for 4 hours. Now i cant do anything. Tried to wipe it using JL Cmder but it keeps saying unable to open port. i'm worried that my BB is no dead as nothing seems to work.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

OK I've tried this at least 10 times now and I can't get anywhere. When I do get the Application Loader to open, I can't find anything to select to reinstall the OS. What am I missing? I have the BlackBerry 7130e from Verizon Wireless and as far as I can tell I've downloaded both the Desktop Manager and Handheld Manager software. Can someone dumb this down for me, because I'm clueless.

    slam,
    Ok...lets see where you are....
Is your device working or not - in other words is this an upgrade or does your phone not work currently?
Did you INSTALL the Handheld Device Operating System on your desktop (not just download)?
Is it the same OS as on your device and is it from your carrier?

Last night for no apparent reason, while it was plugged in and charging, my device displayed the "Error Code 348
    Reset"
message. Pressing reset of course only brings this message back. I only use the BlackBerry for data, never for voice.

I've dloaded and installed both the Desktop Manager and the Device Manager from Verizon Wireless's site. I've followed all of the instructions here--including the javaloader wipe instructions--and I repeatedly get the message that it is unable to connect to my handheld, even after I get the USB "success" message upon plugging my BlackBerry in. I've tried with and without the battery, and nothing works.

My BlackBerry is not even 2 months old but of course I didn't get the service plan on it, and I cannot afford to buy a new one at full price so I NEED to get this one working. It's not provided by my employer, this is all on me. I have my files backed up at home so I'm not worried about lost data, I just need to get it back to where I can restore the backed up data to my device.

Well I must've fiddled with it enough because all of a sudden the App Loader recognized my BlackBerry and it's updating now. Keep your fingers crossed, and THANKS for all the advice in this thread!

Yeah, false alarm. It got through the uninstall process but when it tries to initialize I get that same error screen and then it says "Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation."

Trying the wipe thing again since it at least connected this time.

Be patient and keep trying and do not unplug the phone durring a process. Since you appear to be recognized you should be able to install, but it may take a few attempts.
