Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

After reading one of the threads that mentioned having to start the Application Loader process AS SOON as the machine DINGS with the connection of the phone, it started working. I went through the whole loading process for my Sprint 8703.

The first time, it came up with the spinning hourglass.

So, I tried again, choosing less software to install. Then I got the 507 error and now it shows me a white screen with a phone and computer and two arrows?

UPDATE: I guess it wasn't done updating the phone yet. I guess that is the screen you get when there is actually a connection with the phone and the desktop software.

Now I wait, with the hourglass. Maybe it'll take a while for it to initialize?

UPDATE: It worked. I took out the battery, put it back in, and the Sprint screen came up. Now, to try and break it more and put 4.2 on it from AT&T.

UPDATE: 4.2 failed to load the first time. 2nd time, it loaded, but now it spins the hourglass. Hoping it's just initializing.

Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

I just went through all of these steps. I also called t-mobile BB support and they walked me through the same process. Basically, at the end of it all, they said that the phone was toast. Basically what I have is a black screen and a blinking red LED (blinks 3 times quickly, brief pause, 2 more quick blinks and then it just repeats this over and over 3 blinks.. pause.. 2 blinks, 3 blinks.. pause.. 2 blinks......

Anyway, my PC doesn't recognize it, Desktop Manager doesn't recognize it, basically I'm hosed and unfortunately out of warranty. If anyone has recovered an 8100 from this state, I'd love to hear how!

would someone please write a summary of this process for an 8300 curve? I tried many times but still receive an error of *x000000something in prackets at the end of each time. Exactly at which moment I can re-insert the battery? "Erasing applications" start? or before "initialization" starts? I'm almost give up. Thanks.

    Regards,
    L.

Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

yea but its still not working....

what happens is that when the hourglass screen is on
the USB PIN: (PIN NUMBER) comes up and then that's when i click next

but it says "connecting to JVM" and it never does

and when my phone screen turns off and the red LED light comes on,
the connection automatically changes itself to USB PIN : UNKNOWN
and it connects to (ARM) instead of (JVM)

and during the procedure it can't reconnect to the JVM

i checked the connection using the BlackBerry Device Manager

and while i was choosing which softwares to install and stuff
BB device manager did show that my phone was connected ( USB PIN : PIN#)
but as soon as it goes into

"Waiting for device initialization" it constantly makes that noise on PC where its connecting and disconnecting

Sorry, I've never seen that on. I'll try to research it. Do you get a 505 or 507 error do you?

    nope
nothing on the phone screen itself
just hourglass for lil bit, and then the screen turns off and the red LED light comes on...and it just repeats that over and over again

Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

And you are doing these steps as quickly as possible?

    1. Disconnect the BlackBerry device from the computer.
    2. In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open Application Loader and click Next.
    3. Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry device. For instructions, see KB02141.
    4. Reconnect the BlackBerry device to the computer before the BlackBerry device finishes resetting, and complete one of the following steps:
      • For BlackBerry devices with a USB connection, wait until the drop-down list on the Communication Port Selection window changes to USB PIN and click Next.

Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

    yea...still not working though
its constantly connecting to USB-PIN :UNKNOWN
and then during the "reconnecting to JVM"
it just says unable to connect to the device

i might have to get a new phone...

    ::EDIT::
now it can't even detect my phone anymore...
this is hopeless.. i'm thinking about smashing my BB pearl..lol
