now I see where I went wrong, I never downloaded the handheld software -_-
I figured it would be in the desktop software

I've been up all night & that never crossed my mind
I could have been done with this whole thing 7 hours ago >_<

No problem. Glad you are up and running. Lack of sleep will do that to a person. LOL

Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

Thanks for this thread. It saved my bacon tonight. I had downloaded a third party software and my blackberry started the continuous reboot. I was not looking forward to having to go to IT on Monday to get it fixed.

I have one problem though. I cannot open attachments in my email now. The option to open an attachment is not in the menu.

re-run the application loader and make sure that the box next to 'attachment services' is checked.

Re: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected

Details: The screen on my blackberry is cycling between two states:
1 - Blank (dark and looks like the device is off).
2 - White background with a rotating hourglass.

I can't seem to get it to stop. I've tried:

    1) Remove battery and replace it after 30 seconds.
1a) Remove battery and replace it after 10 minutes.
    2) Remove battery and hold power button down for 1 minute.
    3) Press ALT - CAP - DEL twice (simultaneaously) (after putting the battery back in).
    4) Press ALT - NUM - DEL twice (simultaneaously) (after putting the battery back in).

    i have a 8703e
    Please what do i do.
i HAVE TRIED THE METHOD BUT I CANT GET PAST STEP5.
    iT WONT RECOGNIZE MY PIN.
    iVE ALSO USED THE JL_CMDER.
WHEN I WIPE THE DEVICE IS THE BATTERY SUPPOSED TO BE IN>?
    Much thanks for your time.

Try this and see if it works for you, KB03485 - Run Application Loader when the BlackBerry device does not connect.

Let us know how it works.

After you wipe it, it shouldn't do anything at all except maybe give a 507 error on the Screen. Did you try the process in the link I provided?

What do you mean what series, 87xx? Your device, the 8703 is an CDMA 87xx series Blackberry Device capable of using both 4.1 and 4.2 Device Software Packages. Anything else?

this was immensely helpful. thank you so much. you may want to mention in the above set of directions that the reboot can take as much as 20 minutes. i thought i'd done something wrong but read another post on another page and realized that mentioned to hang in there and be patient.

Im sorry for being such a bother but the computer does recognize that the blackberry is connected but the DM doesn't recognize the USB pin. Does it matter what usb port i connect the BB to because i have 4 usb ports. I have a laptop

That is what the process the link I provided is supposed to correct. How many times did you try it.
