See if this works any better. (let me know if you have trouble with the link)

I have the OS install removed now via Control Panel, but this link isn't working for me.

That's the same location and package I downloaded before and not able to upgrade to. The install runs fine, shows up in Add/Remove Programs but neither the Desktop Manager nor loader.exe recognizes it to install it.

Let's try one more thing if you don't mind. Uninstall DM 4.7 using the instructions here, then download and install 4.6 from here instead. 4.7 has been known to cause this sort of upgrade issue.

Uninstalling DM might also take the OS with it (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), so you might also need to reinstall your OS of choice. Might not hurt to reboot your PC after you've gotten fresh copies of DM and the OS.

I struggled for days to get DM to recognize the new OS for my storm. It would show up in the list if I went into app loaded and clicked upgrade OS, but after selecting it, the next screen would tell me there were no updates.

I found this guide, realized I had 12 OS's installed on my computer for other devices (oops), and I never knew to take out the memory card. I ended up using loader.exe and it knew what was up. Its loading my new OS onto the storm right now, and a whole lot faster than I have had any other upgrade go.

I'm pretty sure this will be a clean install, if not I will report back here. Thanks for the guide, and thanks for the gigs space those old OS's were taking up!

So you were able to remove the IT policies? No, they will not come back with a new OS upgrade.

lissy, welcome to PinStack!

Can you please provide more details? Have you followed the instructions in the first post? What device do you have? What OS do you have currently and which one are you trying to upgrade to? What version of Desktop Manager do you have?

Load an OS version on your PC... delete the Vendor.xml file, connect your device to your PC, then start the Loader.exe file in the same location as the Vendor.xml file you just deleted... this should load the OS... you should have used Desktop Manger to make a backup prior to wiping your device with jl cmder.

Dear All, i am a new member of pinstack, i just wana share one thing that before instaling new OS don't forget to disconnect your internet connection with the PC, because in most of the cases in the last step of instalation where DM tries to connect to the device your PC will hang for a long time some times more than 2 to 3 hours, but if you act vice versa i.e. disconnect your internet connection that won't happen.... :-)
