NewbieStack here. I'm reading all these OS 4.1 how to downloads. I can't seem to find what it is or why I want it. I do want it because apparently it's the popular thing to do, and I just want to be popular. Anyone tell me what it's good for? Thanks a lot.

Also a question. Once i get to download the new version, will i just be able to reload all my data, including things such as profiles etc?

Even though I am on the Vodafone carrier, I used the Hong Kong CSL 4.1 and works perfectly.

As for restoration of normal data, yes, it can be done (as for profiles, I don't think so, but perhaps someone more experienced than me with the BBs can answer).

If memory serves (been a little while sence I last loaded a new OS) you don't loose anything. If all goes well the phone has everything it had before, plus the new tricks of the new OS.

Yes, but I don't think the profiles' settings remain, just because there are many changes to them. I had changes to the profiles in the 4.0 and when upgraded to 4.1 .. all my profiles went to default (muted and such).

Other than that, all my data got automatically backed up before the upgrade and restored after by the Desktop Manager, and I had no problems with the upgrade; I think it just messes only with the profiles.

Last night i downloaded Desktop Manager 4.1 and OS 4.1, however they were niether frrom a UK site as they are still behind here.

So my questions are:

1 - Can i rung Desktop 4.1 with what i think is OS.3.X on my 7290 and do i have things completely mixed up.

2 - OSGILIATH, are you running the 4.1 on Vodafone UK network?

I want to upgrade but feel i may well explode my BB.
