    How To: Downgrade Operating Systems

    1. Find the OS that you are wanting to downgrade to.

    2. Download it to your computer.

    3. Run the .exe file and install the OS onto your computer.

    4. Do a search for vendor.xml and delete it.

Or go Start/My Computer/C: Drive/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/App Loader and it should be down in the bottom there.

    5. Now connect your device to the USB.

    6. Start Desktop Manager.

    7. Go to Add Applications.

    8. A box will pop up giving you the option of downgrading or keeping the same OS.

    9. Click the downgraded OS and you are on your way.

Hi liljohn. Did you install the new OS on your computer? Did you delete the vendor.xml file if the OS is not originally for your carrier?

Let us know if we can help you any further.

Thanks for the tip, but my main problem at the moment is locating the actual OS install files. When I search for software downloads at Blackberry.com, there only seems to be a few versions of the Blackberry Desktop Software available. Any ideas where I should be looking, or what I'm missing?

    Thanks in advance...

Re: How To: Downgrade Operating Systems

Well, as I'm currently having problems with Java error msgs after having installed Bloomberg software on a 8100 with 4.2.1.93, but I don't know which version is compatible with the Bloomberg software (or even IF there is a compatible one for the 8100). So basically, I'm looking for a good site with the previous versions of OS for the 8100 so I can experiment a little =)
